New Vocationally-Approved Course
Scope and Sequence for Technology Education   (FY2004)

A new emphasis is needed for technology education in Missouri that will reflect the need for a well-educated citizenry capable of creative, systemic thinking and analysis reflected in engineering technology. In addition, the effects of technology and global change require developing specific course scope and sequence to support effective standards-driven outcomes to benefit students in successful articulation through their educational experiences in Technology Education and link them to post-secondary education. The purpose of this project is to develop a new vocationally-approved course scope and sequence for all Missouri Technology Education programs.

The course scope and sequence is designed to include technological concepts, career skill exploration, and core content necessary for all students to develop technologically-literate life skills. Consideration is being given to state and national standards and their thorough articulation through all Missouri Technology Education course scope and sequence developments. In coordination with an advisory committee of technology education teachers and teacher educators, Mr. Ben Yates, Career and Technology Education Department, UCM, and Dr. Michael Wright, MCCE, are leading the development of the new scope and sequence.
