Trade and Industrial Education Competency Profiles   (FY2004)

Under this project, 15 existing trade and industrial (T&I) competency profiles that have not been revised within the previous four (4) years are being updated. In addition to updating and validating the technical content of these profiles, the revised profiles will be updated to meet current state educational requirements (including but not limited to curriculum alignment). In addition, active verbs, updated rating scales, and measurable duty bands that may be interpreted as measurable learner objectives will also be included. The culmination of this project includes a professional development activity (coordinated with DESE's Industrial Education Section) to inform/educate Missouri stakeholders.

The fifteen updated profiles include:

  • Graphic Communications/Printing
  • Radio/Television Broadcasting Technology
  • Welding
  • Machine Tool Technology
  • Computer/Network Technician
  • Electronics
  • Cosmetology
  • Masonry
  • Cabinetmaking
  • Electrical Trades
  • Carpentry
  • School-To-Career Portfolio
  • Diesel Mechanic

A committee made up of instructors and practitioners in the appropriate field guide the development of each profile. Project staff includes Mr. Donald Scott, MCCE and Dr. Bart Washer, Career and Technology Education Department, UCM.
