Teacher Leaders Provide the Primary Point of Contact
for NTI Participants
Become a teacher leader. Apply before Wednesday, March 31, 2010.
Teacher Leaders are exceptional career education teachers who enjoy working with new teachers to help them gain skills in leading instruction, planning curricula, assessing student learning, managing a classroom, and developing professional relationships. Teacher Leaders work with a cohort of 5 to 10 new teachers, facilitating small group discussions, providing specific feedback, and serving as a role model.
Teacher Leader Responsibilities:
- Engage NTI participants in cohort activities to promote quality teaching
- Reinforce lesson content with personal knowledge and experience in curriculum, instruction, classroom management, assessment, and professional relationships
- Provide feedback on participant work to facilitate mastery of NTI course content
- Communicate with MCCE staff to document participant attendance and course work
- Encourage participants to attend MoACTE Summer Conference sessions relevant to their professional and content area needs
Rewards:
- $1,200 stipend
- Single-occupancy hotel accommodations at the University Plaza Hotel for eight nights (July 22—29)
- Meals at NTI (breakfast each day, four lunch, and three dinner meals)
- Roundtrip mileage to Springfield, MO
- Registration to the 2010 MoACTE Summer Conference
- Optional University of Central Missouri course credit
- Opportunity to network with colleagues
Requirements:
- Attend a half-day Teacher Leader training (8AM—2PM July 23)
- Attend all NTI sessions and the MoACTE Summer Conference
- Serve as a professional role model for new teachers
- Complete the NTI program evaluation
